Ford is one of the United States' most well-known automobile
manufacturers. Established in 1903, the Ford Motor Company,
under the leadership of Henry Ford, was the first motor car company
to use mass production. Because mass production allowed the
company to make affordable cars, Ford Motor Company is often heralded
as the first company that made cars accessible to just about everyone.
The Model A, an eight horsepower car, was the company's first offering. In a little more than three months, it sold so well that it brought the company more than $30,000 in profit. Larger cars, like Models B, C, F, and N (the prototype to the Model T) followed. Popular models along the way included the Taurus, the Aspire, the Escort, the Mustang, and the Contour. Ford has many different models to suit a variety of needs, from the fuel-efficient Aspire to the rig-hauling Expedition. Ford's plan for the 21st century is much like its initial plan: to make cars in a way that would maximize efficiency and decrease cost for consumers.
