Mitsubishi Cars

Mitsubishi's Model A, introduced in 1917, was actually one of the first Japanese-built cars.  About 20 Model As were built before Mitsubishi took a more than 30-year hiatus from the car manufacturing business.  In 1959 the company introduced its second car, a micro-car called the 500.

By the 1960s Mitsubishis had become larger, and a relationship with Chrysler also helped boost sales in the United States.  Mitsubishi was one of the first car companies to build minivans, and introduced the Space Wagon in the 1980s.  In addition, the Shogun has done well in the upscale four-wheel drive market.  Other popular models today include the Carisma and the Galant.
